Let's be honest. These t-shirts are not funny. You know the ones. They have those clever little sayings on them, like, for example; "I do my own stunts," or "Here I am, now what are your other two wishes?" These sayings would be funny, if you heard them ONCE in a setting where you're just talking with some friends. Why would anyone want to read this every single day. You see, there's a deeper humor here, these shirts say something about the individual wearing them. Basically it's; "I'm not a very funny individual, but the guy who thought up this saying on my shirt is pretty funny. See what he said there; "I can only please one person a day, today isn't your day, tomorrow isn't looking good either." Hilarious, right? That means if he's funny, and I'm wearing the shirt he made, I'm funny by association. Maybe girls will like me now." I've only seen one shirt like this that made me laugh out loud, it said; "Rehab's for quitters." That's pretty funny, but I still wouldn't want to wear it everyday.

So true! The only two shirts I've ever thought were funny (one of which I bought, I admit, but it was because of you) was the NOFX one that says, "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot." The other one I thought was funny was the one we've all seen the picture of - that fat guy wearing a shirt that says, "I beat Anorexia." Hilarious, but I'd still never wear it.
ReplyDeleteThe NOFX one I don't think really counts. Band shirts don't fall into this category. However, I do have a shirt like this too, I must admit, it's the one that says; "I support two teams, the Red Sox and whoever beats the Yankees."
ReplyDeleteThis is a great blog. These kind of shirts would be great for someone with amnesia. These shirts also tell so much about a person wearing them... "hey guys look at me I'm kind of dorky and I still haven't been laid". (prob unrelated but still)
ReplyDeleteGreat blog
Oh Mr. Short Life, you and I unfortunately disagree on this subject. I have a closet full of quotable t-shirts. I do believe that when I put on one of these t-shirts, it tells the world who I truly am. Whether it be humorous or just down right truthful, about me or someone else. I've been slapped, punched in the stomach and occassionally laughed at, by many an unsuspecting individual when I ask to pose for a picture with them and my t-shirt says "I'm with stupid." (of course the arrow points to them.) Perhaps not all share my sense of humor. Se la vie! (Sp?) But I still think you and your blog are brill my friend, totally brill! :)
